Club Membership

We accept membership applications from people with sufficient climbing experience to be able to belay competently and climb safely. Applications from juniors (under 18) are only considered if the junior has a parent as an active and competent member of the club and who will be responsible for their joint activities at all times.

Annual membership for 2023 is £50 – Members receive club newsletters and access to the members section of this website. Members automatically become ‘club members’ of the BMC and are entitled to most of the benefits of BMC membership including discounts at many outdoor retail stores. The club also provides ropes for members to use on Tuesday evenings at Ham Hill Quarry & the local climbing & bouldering wall (where members have free admission).

If you’d like to join please download & complete an application form (see below) then email the membership secretary (secretary@yeovilmountaineeringclub.co.uk) to establish contact. Be sure to tell us a little bit about yourself i.e. how much climbing, walking, scrambling or mountaineering experience you have and if you are a member of any other clubs.

Club Safety And Etiquette

Please read and understand the following statement on risk and responsibility prepared by the BMC:

“Climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement”.

The risk is not just to yourself, as when climbing you will often also have a responsibility for the safety and protection of your companions, other climbers, and the general public. There is also a need to respect and care for the environment and leave the places we visit as if we had never been.
